Manufacturing process
STEEL NAIL TECHNOLOGY
-
RAW MATERIALS SECLECTION
High-quality low carbon steel wire rods are selected as raw material.
Wire rods typically range from 5.5 mm to 8 mm in diameter, depending on the nail size.
-
Wire Drawing
The wire rods are drawn through a series of drawing dies to reduce the diameter to the desired nail thickness.
Lubricants and cooling systems are used to maintain wire quality and prevent overheating.
-
Nail Forming (Heading and Shaping)
The wire is fed into a nail making machine.
Each nail is formed in two steps:
- Heading: A machine hammer flattens one end to form the nail head.
- Cutting & Shaping: The opposite end is shaped into a sharp point, and the body is cut to the desired length.
Polishing / Cleaning
Nails are collected and placed in polishing drums or barrels.
Lubricants, sawdust, or polishing compounds are added to clean and shine the nails.
Heat Treatment (Optional)
For enhanced strength, nails may be heat-treated to achieve proper hardness and ductility.
Galvanizing / Coating (Optional)
Nails are zinc-coated (galvanized) or electroplated to prevent rust and increase shelf life.
Some may be cement-coated for better grip in wood.
Quality Control
Nails are tested for:
- Uniform size
- Sharpness
- Head integrity
- Rust resistance
Defective pieces are removed manually or by machine.
